This five day course is designed to provide decision making strategies that have proven effective in surgical settings in Austere conditions. The course contents also cover cases associated with conflict and catastrophe, e.a penetrating and crush injuries. In addition, it also focuses on dealing with obstetric emergencies, and post-disaster conflict procedure such as skin flaps/grafts and management of orthopedic fracture.

Gautam said, “As I come from a nation that has been historically crippled by a detrimental health situation on many levels, I am driven to help make an impact in the daily lives of people. Nepal has many challenges to overcome when it comes to healthcare. Saving lives during a disaster as well as enabling citizens by helping them reach a state where they don’t have to lose life during calamity is something I aspire to be a consistent part of”.

He adds,”this training will enable me to be more self-reliant through an advancement in surgical skills which myself and my teammate can utilize while working throughout the geographically challenging landscape of Nepal.”
